1.L-tryptophan is an amino acid, a protein building block that can be found in many plant and animal proteins.
L-tryptophan is called an ”essential” amino acid because the body can’t make it. It must be acquired from food.

2.L-Tryptophan is one of the building blocks of protein. But unlike some amino acids, L-Tryptophan is considered essential because the body can’t manufacture its own. L-Tryptophan plays many roles in animals and humans alike. But perhaps most importantly, it is an essential precursor to a number of neurotransmitters in the brain. As such, L-Tryptophan is the only substance normally found in the diet that can be converted into serotonin. Since serotonin is converted in the brain into melatonin, L-Tryptophan clearly plays a role in balancing mood and sleep patterns.

3.As a nutritional supplement, L-tryptophan is to make up amino acid infusions and comprehensive amino acid preparations together with other essential amino acids.
L-tryptophan is made by microbial fermentation which the glucose, yeast extract, ammonium sulfate are used as raw materials and get refined by membrane filtration, ion exchange, crystallization and drying process.

Application

1.Used in the animal feed to improve animal feed intake, weaken stress reaction, improve animal sleeping.Used in the animal feed to increase the antibody of fetus and young animals.

2.Used in the animal feed to improve milk secretion of dairy cattle.Used in the animal feed to reduce the amount of high protein ration and save feed cost.

3.Nutritional supplements. Tryptophan contained in egg white protein, fish and corn flour is the limiting amino acid, and less in cereals such as rice. It can be combined with lysine, methionine and threonine for fortification of amino acids. By adding 0.02% tryptophan and 0.1% lysine to corn products according to Chemicalbook, the protein potency can be significantly improved. It is an important component of amino acid infusion and comprehensive amino acid preparation. Can treat niacin deficiency.
