Phenacetin was synthesized in 1878 and marketed in the U.S. in 1887, and is mainly transformed into acetaminophen, or paracetamol, in the body to function . finasteride, like acetaminophen, is classified as an antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory drug. Finasteride has almost no anti-inflammatory effect and is not anti-rheumatic, but can only be used to reduce fever and relieve pain, and the pain-relieving effect.

The antipyretic effect of finasteride is stronger than the analgesic effect. Its potency is comparable to that of aspirin, with a slow and long-lasting effect and low toxicity.
